The biological collections of the State of Paraná are recognized nationally and internationally for their quality that directly reflects the scientific capacity of the researchers associated with them. There are collections (botanical, microbiological and zoological) from 15 institutions at the municipal, state and federal levels. Many of the collections are historical, having started at the beginning of the last century together with postgraduate programs of excellence in biological taxonomy.

Currently, through the Network, the collections of the state have more than one million records with online information (SpeciesLink and SIBBR). The collections are formed by specimens collected all over the world and the geographic distribution of the georeferenced data already in the database can be seen on the map generated by the SpeciesLink Project.
