The biological collections are the permanent record of the heritage of the natural world, representing a continuous investment by the institutions that keep them in the effort to understand the processes that guide it. They are the basis for research in many scientific disciplines, in particular those that study the description, classification and reconstruction of the evolutionary history of species - BIODIVERSITY - preserving the elements for proving previous research, enabling the verification of the validity of scientific information. The collections and their information are essential for planning for future research and have an intrinsic didactic value supporting basic, secondary, higher and postgraduate education activities. They serve to support environmental education programs, helping to raise public awareness of environmental issues and biodiversity conservation. The biological collections of the Network of Biological Collections of Parana - Taxonline provide services to the community considering the pillars, TEACHING, RESEARCH AND EXTENSION.



The microbiological collections of NAPI-Taxonline are constantly expanding.  Our collections are enriched with the deposit of strains from academic research and other projects of clinical, industrial and environmental importance.  


Two large groups of microbiology researchers are part of the Taxonline Network: CMRP-Taxonline and EMBRAPA .
